CORRIHER LIPE MIDDLE SCHOOL 7TH GRADE STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN PUMPKIN DROP

Today, 7th graders at Corriher Lipe Middle took part in the First Annual Pumpkin Drop. Using Science, History and Math, students were designated to different teams, all with a common goal- Will the pumpkin survive? When beginning the project, the students looked into and thought of materials to bring in for their pumpkin capsule. Cotton, bubble wrap, boxes and LOTS of tape was used, all with students working together and using critical thinking to encapsulate the pumpkin any way they could to make sure that it would survive the fall. After being dropped, the damage of each pumpkin was assessed for any damage that it may have ensued. These students were excited and engaged, bringing all their minds together for the final product of what may happen to their pumpkin. This event taught students with all subjects, and was an experience that is hoped to continue year after year.
