Schoolwide Fieldtrip to Lyle Lyle Crocodile

Due to the generosity of the Granite Quarry Elementary School PTA, A large green singing sensation took over Granite Quarry Elementary School on October 11th and 12th! As part of their social and emotional learning focus, the entire student body traveled to the historic Gem Theater in Kannapolis, North Carolina to experience the movie Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile in style.

For many students this was their first ever field trip and their first time on big orange school bus.

Music, Art, Quest, and Physical Education teachers created a sequence of enrichment activities that prepared the students for the movie.  Activities included learning characters, illustrations, music, and messages about how to embrace and accept differences in each other based on Bernard Waber's classic character, Lyle.  The students laughed and clapped as the green crocodile came to life on the big screen. "Lyle is the bravest, kindest, most wonderful crocodile in the whole wild world.”
