BUSINESS & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ACADEMY

OVERVIEW
The Business and Information Technology Academy is where ITs at! Students will be immersed in classes designed to educate and prepare students for a commitment to business and computer programming while developing leaders in an ever-changing global economy. Students will learn industry recognized skills in the areas of productivity software, ecommerce, accounting and entrepreneurship. The information technology pathway will provide students with opportunities to learn app development, computer programming, including C family programming languages and advanced programming concepts, and cyber security. Students will have the opportunity to apply entrepreneurial and computer skills in specialized business internships and partner with local businesses in development of marketing tools and informational technology. Join students with like-interests and career goals by participating and competing in East’s award-winning Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA).

MISSION STATEMENT
It is the mission of the Business and Marketing Academy of East Rowan High School to prepare students for the twenty-first century through an academic concentration on business and marketing specialties and includes rigorous academic requirements, service learning through Future Business Leaders of America, and appropriate work-based learning experiences in preparation for post-secondary education and the work force.

OUR PURPOSE
- To provide students in Rowan-Salisbury Schools an opportunity for in-depth study in a business or marketing specialty
- To provide students an opportunity to build stronger, more comprehensive workplace skills
- To enhance the connection between the high school courses and the real world of business and marketing
- To recognize the importance of participation in professional organizations by participating and competing in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)

Any student may apply to ERHS Business and Marketing Academy regardless of their current district.

ALL RSS ACADEMIES
High School Academies offer specialized curricula and courses and are aligned to specific career pathways.
Rising ninth grade students who are unable to obtain academies or concentrations in their regularly assigned school, may apply to another school within RSS in order to enroll in a program of study or academy not offered at their school. Transfers into high school academies for rising ninth graders will be granted on a space available basis, with students in the academy host school given first opportunity for enrollment in the academy. The transfer window for high school academies will open on January 17, 2023 and close on February 14, 2023.

OVERVIEW
East Rowan Virtual Academy (ERVA)
The Virtual Academy will offer an opportunity for students in Rowan-Salisbury Schools to complete high school online via one of our personalized pathways, which include (1) all online learning or (2) hybrid model in which students complete some classes online and others face to face. Online learning offers flexibility and personalization to meet the needs of all learners. We are excited to be able to offer a virtual academy for Rowan-Salisbury School students at East Rowan High School and look forward to assisting students as they work toward their unique academic and life goals.
