• Elizabeth Hanford Dole Elementary School was opened in August 1999. The school is named for United States Senator Elizabeth Hanford Dole, a Salisbury native. Our picturesque rural campus located north of Salisbury, just off of I-85 offers students a spacious campus to enjoy nature while learning. We offer a low student to teacher ratio in classes from Pre-K to 5th Grade.

Our goal at Hanford-Dole is to empower all students for success in the 21st Century. Students in Pre-K through 5th grade classrooms are supported by highly-qualified teachers, an administrative staff, a technology facilitator, media specialist, guidance counselor, ESL services, EC services, AIG, music, art and PE specialists. Communities in Schools work to link the local community resources with the needs of our students.

In October 2012, Hanford-Dole Elementary was named a “Reward School” by the NC State Board of Education and the NC Department of Public Instruction. Reward Schools are identified as among the highest 10% of all Title I schools showing high progress over a number of years. Again for the 2013-2014 school year Hanford-Dole Meet Expected Growth.

In addition to a healthy nutritious school breakfast and lunch, a USDA/Food and Nutrition Services grant provides a healthy snack, including fruits and vegetables, each day. We offer an academic after-school program for students in grades 3 through 5. The YMCA offers an on-site after school childcare program until 6PM.
