Woodleaf Elementary student recognized for Coding
RECOGNITION OF WOODLEAF STUDENT SOFIE FREEZE AND CODING

Congratulations to Sofie Freeze from Woodleaf Elementary School. Sofie was recognized and honored at the Board of Education meeting on Monday, September 24th. 

Sofie was interviewed and featured in the national publication by Tynker for her use of coding to create projects featuring animals. Sofie's animations were included in the article posted by Tynker and they received over 2,500 views! One of Sofie's future plans is to one day have a mobile vet clinic so she can save animals.

Rowan-Salisbury Schools Pilots State Renewal Program

The State of North Carolina passed HB 986 enabling qualifying school districts to become a renewal district. Currently only Rowan-Salisbury Schools district qualifies. On June 28th the RSS Board of Education elected to participate in this program. Click for details.

Renewal School System

Today the General Assembly passed an Education Bill (H986) which would allow Rowan-Salisbury Schools the opportunity to become a Renewal School System.

Rowan County Recyclers

Rowan County School students were offered the Go Green Challenge as a Problem Based Learning event. Winners were recognized at the April Board of Education meeting. There was a winning class for the Elementary and High School levels.
