SHS Women's Tennis Team celebrates successful season

Salisbury High School is known for its athletic excellence. From basketball to football to volleyball, Salisbury High is a top-notch competitor. The Salisbury High School Women’s Tennis team is no exception, as they finished their season crowned as the State Semi-Finalists.

After an extraordinary season, the team completed their season with an astonishing 18-1 record. The team also earned the title of NC West Regional Runner Ups. On top of an amazing season for the team, individual players were awarded recognitions and titles throughout the season. Mille and Cora Wymbs were recognized as All State Players. Millie, Cora, Abbey Lawson, Kate Burton, and Lucy Barr were recognized as All Regional Players. M. Wymbs, C. Wymbs, Lawson, Burton, and Meredith Williams were also distinguished as All CCC Conference Players. C. Wymbs, Lawson, Burton, Williams, and Barr were appointed to the All County team. M. Wymbs was additionally awarded Conference Player of the year and Rowan County Player of the year.

The SHS Women’s Tennis team is coached by Milton Griffith. By day, Mr. Griffith is a School Counselor at Salisbury High School and also teaches Driver’s Education. Mr. Griffith also serves as the Tournament Director for the 2A Midwest Regionals & the 2A State Championships. Coach Griffith was also named County Girls Tennis Coach of the year!
