China Grove’s First XC Team

China Grove Middle School started its first ever Cross-Country team this school year with seventeen students. Those who were interested in XC have been practicing since before school even began and for the past month and a half.

This is new for the entire Rowan Salisbury School district in middle schools. These students worked hard, developed a mentality to accomplish the goal of doing 2 miles.

The XC event we held here at CGMS along with four to five other schools went very well. The students ran in front of the school, on our nature trail, down the football field and around the track. We even had some help from South Rowan High School and their XC team who cheered each school and pushed and encouraged students on and showed them the way to keep going.

Our teams, which are boys and girls, had an amazing year. Our boys placed 1st in individual winners in 3 out of 4 races and they finished 1st overall in two races. Our girls had 1st place in individual winners 3 out of the 4 races and finished 1st overall in one race. Congratulations to our first team for representing our school, we are proud of your accomplishment!

Thank you to our athletic director, Ms. Faggart and others that helped make this dream for our students to do a reality. China Grove Middle will be looking forward to many more meets and practices for XC!
