It's official! We have a new mascot!
This year, we made the decision to adopt a mascot. While we were previously known as the Explorers, we never had a face to go with the name.
We took staff and student voices and held a vote for what our new animal mascot would be. After many votes and a lengthy design process, we are proud to unveil our official mascot: Luca the Wolf!
We are no longer Explorers. We are Wolves!
With our choice , we can now move forward in what that means for us as a school. Wolves were described as pathfinders while also embodying knowledge and strength. They are natural explorers, as we ourselves are. Wolves have a strong sense of teamwork in their pack mentality. They understand the importance of working together to accomplish goals and leaning on one another when they fall short. Those wolves who dare to choose their own path (lone wolves, as we know them by) are also important for the species. They are the ones that branch off, discover new territories, and form new packs. Our students have the strength and knowledge to be leaders of the pack. We still have work to do in order to adopt our new face, but we are well on the way.
Coming soon, you will see changes to our school's appearance to match our new mascot. Students already got a sneak peek with our new banner in the cafeteria!
I hope that the new face of Overton will inspire students and visitors to feel like they are a part of the pack.
Go Wolves!
