Our upcoming Parent Coffee Hour will be on Tuesday, January 19th, at 10:00 am via Zoom. Our topic this month is Social Emotional Learning. Attendees will learn about our efforts to support Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and how parents and guardians can help their scholars at home.
The link for the meeting has been posted on ClassDojo. All parent/guardian attendees have a chance to win a gift card prize. Additionally, the teacher with the most parental involvement will also will a prize.
A virtual Title I Family Reading Night was held Thursday, December 3rd. Several videos, created by the wonderful staff at Overton, were shared that highlight reading strategies that parents can use at home to help their scholars become better readers. Overton Elementary held a virtual Environmental Robot Showcase on November 12th. The students were tasked with creating a robot prototype that would solve an environmental problem of their choice and worked through the engineering design process to come up with their designs. A panel of outside judges reviewed the entries within each grade level and the winners were announced during the showcase. We have some amazing future engineers!
On Tuesday, November 17th, Mrs Davies class celebrated Thanksgiving with an Ozobot Parade. Students listened to the book "Balloons Over Broadway" and then created balloon floats to parade down the classroom route. Scholars socially distanced in front of their desks to watch the parade. Their creativity and designs were amazing!
Mr. James Davis is our Teacher of Year for 2020-21! He brings lots of excitement and engagement to the Science lessons he provides for our scholars and is well-deserving of this award. Congratulations Mr. Davis!
