Rowan-Salisbury Schools (RSS) officially revealed its new strategic plan, Renewal 2027, at a special launch event in the Moody Center for Innovation at Wallace Educational Forum
At West Rowan Middle School, students learn about Sustainability through the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) also known as the Global Goals. The SDGs were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity. WRMS students focus on 11 of the 17 goals which fall under the areas of: Environment, Economy, Equality, and Wellness.
Students at Knox harvested from the garden they helped to plant earlier in the year. Ashley Honbarrier from Happy Roots has helped to cultivate our students while they cultivate food from a small garden located at the back of Knox.
This year marks the first hybrid Regional Festival for North Carolina’s International Thespian Society, allowing students to participate in-person or virtually. Students attended and participated in workshops, while also having the opportunity to compete. Fifteen thespian students from Carson High School have been selected as Thespy Award qualifiers. The International Thespian Excellence Awards, or Thespys® for short, recognizes the highest level of achievement in school theatre performance and technical theatre.
Rowan-Salisbury Schools (RSS) Superintendent Dr. Tony B. Watlington, Sr., announced his resignation, effective Friday, April 15, during the Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education meeting Monday. The announcement follows Watlington’s appointment as superintendent of the School District of Philadelphia.
The Board appointed Dr. Jason Gardner as interim superintendent. He will take the helm of RSS on April 16.
Self-love and confidence are some of the key factors to any girl’s independence as she learns the world around her. Girls on the Run of the Greater Piedmont works with local schools to provide a physically-based, positive development program for third through fifth grade girls. Girls on the Run (GOTR) encourages girls of all abilities to recognize their individual strengths and celebrate connections with others.
