Shonda Hairston-Principal

Shonda Hairston is principal of Knollwood Elementary.

Proud Principal of the largest and most diverse elementary school in RSS.

Twenty five years serving as an educator.

My mission is to serve as a leader whose “actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more.”

Kathryn Ellis-Assistant Principal

I am Kathryn Ellis, the new Assistant Principal, of Knollwood Elementary.  I am in love with this new position.  The children at Knollwood Elementary are the most caring children I have ever met.  I am extremely excited about our school year and the success of each student.

I was born and raised in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.  I have lived in 5 different states, Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, Indiana, and now North Carolina.  I have a beautiful daughter in high school.   Our family loves to camp, travel the country, ride motorcycles, and spend summers evenings on a boat.

I have taught and worked with grades K-8th throughout my 25 years in education.  I have a Bachelors in Elementary & Early Childhood, Masters in Special Education, Educational Specialist Degree in Teaching Reading, and National Board Certified in Middle Childhood.

I am now a Knollwood Knight and very PROUD to be one!
