Dr. Tony Watlington Sr. is pleased to announce that the Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education approved his recommendation for the Director of Marketing and Communication. This position will lead the district’s marketing and communication strategy.
Dr. Tracey H. Lewis will serve as the district’s new Director of Marketing and Communication starting in early May. Dr. Lewis began her educational career in Guilford County Schools as a school counselor at Guilford Middle School in 1997. She later moved to Surry County as a school counselor and served several schools over her 17-year administrative career, including three years as an assistant principal and 14 years as a principal at the elementary and middle school levels. Lewis has served as the Director of Communications/Teacher Recruitment and Retention for Surry County Schools for the past three years.
Lewis received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Administration and Political Science from Elon (College) University, a Master of Science and Specialist in Education Degrees in Counseling and Educational Development from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, a Master of Arts in School Administration from Gardner-Webb University, and the Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Cultural Foundations from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Her focus throughout her career has always been to serve children and families by helping students gain the competencies needed to develop a positive self-image, strong interpersonal skills, and a solid academic foundation for success, while fostering teacher leaders, and exhibiting a heart of servant leadership.
She is married to James Lewis, has a son and daughter-in-love, Brandon and Bridgett, and a new granddaughter, Avianna Maddix, who is four weeks old.
