The above basic supplies will assist each student in a successful start to the school year. Teachers may request additional supplies once the school year starts for special projects not to exceed $10.00. In addition, it would be great if each student could have a pencil pouch or type of container to ensure the supplies are secure since students will not be allowed to share.  We are always happy to work with families who need assistance in securing supplies.

China Grove Middle School no longer has a school uniform policy.  However, a dress code that aligns with RSS expectations will be enforced.

Students are expected to use good judgment in their manner of dress. Extremes in hairstyles, body piercing, make-up, and modes of dress deemed by the administration as inappropriate, a disruption, a danger to health and safety, or a distraction to the educational process will not be permitted on the China Grove Middle School campus or at any school event regardless of the location. Students whose dress attire does not comply with the Dress Code must call home for a change of clothes and may have to remain in ISS until their clothing meets the Dress Code. Staff will not discuss or debate with students whether something is appropriate.

School Dress Expectations

• Leggings allowed with shirt that extends to fingertips

• Closed toe shoes (Crocs acceptable with strap worn)

• Nothing in ears, or on ears, that will obstruct hearing

• No obscene, disruptive, or provocative clothing

• Shorts, skirts, and dresses must be at least fingertip length

• No ripped pants that expose skin four finger-lengths above the knee

• No hats or hoods

Follow the RSS Dress Code Guidelines

RSS School Board Policy 4316 prohibits any appearance or clothing that does the following:

• Violates a reasonable dress code adopted and publicized by the school;

• Is substantially disruptive;

• Is provocative or obscene; or

• Endangers the health or safety of the student or others.

Administration reserves the right to change, modify, or adjust the dress code at its discretion. Administration reserves the right to the interpretation of the dress code policy and requirements established by CGMS.
