Recap of the 2017 Wrestling Season
James Pittman

The 2017 Wrestling Season has come and gone quickly.  We had a great season by finishing regular season with an 11-2 Record.  Our team worked really hard after a few setbacks early in the season by winning our last 7 matches straight.  We wrestled three non-conference matches against Davie County Middle Schools and were able to win all of those matches.

West Rowan 60 North Davie 36
West Rowan 66 Ellis 33
West Rowan 71 South Davie 21

Our Tournament Champions are William Kirwin 98, Anderson Pruett 120, Jacob Joseph 170, and Adrian Trujillo 250.  These guys battled hard to win their brackets.  All of these matches were exciting and nail bitters to the very end. We had 6 Second Place Finishers, Bryan Taylor 106, Ben Sweet 126, Bruce Irons 132, Adam Coughenour 138 (Overtime), Tre Garrison 182, and Dylan Upright 195.  We had 1 Third Place Finisher, Glorious Wood 145. Our Junior Varsity First Place Finishers, Grant Pruett 106A, Easton Troutman 106B, Kyler Morton 113, Andrew Zheng 138, Blake Rogers 152, Tyler Cline 170, and Grayson Burleson 182. We had several wrestlers who finished regular season with perfect records; Kyler Morton 4-0, Ben Sweet 13-0 and Grayson Burleson 4-0. In summary, the Bulldogs were able to score 890 team points with an average of 68 points scored per match.  This team wrestled well all season and secured us an overall record of 11-2 and a second-place finish regular season and second-place in the conference tournament.
