Each Saturday, China Grove Middle School will send out a message to parents, students, and other stakeholders to provide timely and relevant information. Below is the Saturday Message for September 23, 2017:
Good Morning China Grove MS Families,
This Friday is our first early release day of the year. We will dismiss at NOON. Please plan accordingly.
We will begin our modified RED TIME schedule this week. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, we will follow a 62-minute class schedule. By shortening each class by 8 minutes, we are able to provide a significant block of time for reading instruction, enrichment, and remediation. Mondays and Fridays will continue with our regular 70 minute classes.
Concerning RED Time, enrichment assignments will be posted Tuesday. If identified for remediation, students are reminded that assignments are directed, not optional.
Congratulations to Cole Kirkpatrick, who was selected as September’s Reader of the Month for his great work with our Summer Reading Project. Cole will be acknowledged at this week’s Board of Education meeting. We celebrate Cole’s performance, and we look forward to highlighting another Extraordinary Reader next month.
Progress reports are to be issued this Tuesday, the 26th. Instead of printing paper reports, we ask all families to login to the PowerSchool Parent Portal and review grades. Please contact a teacher, counselor, or administrator with questions about your child’s progress.
Our first School Improvement Team meeting is this Thursday, the 28th, at 2:45 in the Media Center. Meetings are always open to the public and parents are encouraged to attend. This month’s meeting will be a review of our recently released accountability results.
This is a reminder that ALL students, including our rising 6th graders, are responsible for completing a summer reading project. Summer projects will count as a formal grade in the first quarter. Summer reading projects will be due September 29th. The assignments are available here.
Thank you, and have a great weekend.
