Comprehensive Beginning Teacher Program

The Rowan-Salisbury School System's Beginning Teacher program is designed to provide new teachers with the support they need to thrive in the classroom throughout their first three years teaching. Beginning Teachers work collaboratively with a site coordinator, a mentor and administrators.

Extensive Professional Development Opportunities

Professional Development Menu
The PD Menu provides an array of opportunities for staff members to grow and learn new and innovative research-based practices. All professional development is designed and delivered by highly qualified teacher-leaders and administrators who have demonstrated innovative teaching and learning practices in their schools and classrooms.

National and Regional Conference
The Rowan-Salisbury School System sends hundreds of teachers and administrators to regional and national professional development conferences each year such as ISTE, NCTIES and other content-specific conferences. Not only do our employees attend these conferences, but they are frequently asked to present as well, sharing the innovative best-practices of the Rowan Salisbury School System.

Innovative Use of Instructional Technology

The Rowan-Salisbury School System is a pioneer in educational technology in North Carolina. One of the first public school districts in the state to implement a 1:1 digital conversion, students in grades 3-8 are issued an iPad, and students in grades 9-12 are issued a MacBook Air to use at both home and school throughout the year. Our younger students are each issued iPads to use in their classrooms. Teachers too are provided with the technology and professional development they need to implement a blended learning model in the classroom.

The Rowan-Salisbury School System is committed to providing Extraordinary Education Every Day to each student every day by focusing on literacy, problem-based learning and blended learning.

Grow Your Own Leaders & Coaches

The Rowan-Salisbury School System is committed to developing our talented educators into the future leaders of our district.

Grow Your Own Leaders is an application-based program designed to provide assistant principals with intense professional development that cultivates leaders as strategic and innovative thinkers preparing them for other leadership positions.

Grow Your Own Coaches is a cohort of teachers interested in becoming a Reading/Instructional Design Coach with the Rowan-Salisbury School System.

Graduate Programs

The Rowan-Salisbury School System Partners with Catawba College and Wingate University to provide district employees with local and affordable opportunities to pursue advanced degrees.

Teachers can earn a master's degree in STEM Education at Catawba College free of charge, and Wingate University provides a local cohort for its Ed.D. in Educational Leadership designed specifically for Rowan-Salisbury's educational leaders.
