Overview

Learn industry recognized skills in the areas of productivity software, ecommerce, accounting, marketing and entrepreneurship. Join students with like-interests and career goals by participating and competing in East’s award-winning Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). Students apply entrepreneurial skills in specialized business internships and market local businesses through website development.

Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Business and Marketing Academy of East Rowan High School to prepare students for the twenty-first century through an academic concentration on business and marketing specialties and includes rigorous academic requirements, service learning through Future Business Leaders of America, and appropriate work-based learning experiences in preparation for post-secondary education and the work force.

Our Purpose

  • To provide students in Rowan-Salisbury Schools an opportunity for in-depth study in a business or marketing specialty
  • To provide students an opportunity to build stronger, more comprehensive workplace skills
  • To enhance the connection between the high school courses and the real world of business and marketing
  • To recognize the importance of participation in professional organizations by participating and competing in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)

Hands-on activities will provide a stimulating, educational and fun experience in celebrating the rich heritage of Rowan County. Each camp is staffed by museum personnel, local history teachers and local college history majors. Register by calling 704-633-5946 or emailing tdcreel@fibrant.com. Rowan Museum Time Warp Camp (rising 3rd - 5th graders) explores Rowan County's early history. Students will visit historical properties in downtown Salisbury including the Utzman Chambers House, the Old English Cemetery, Freedman's Cemetery and the Old Stone House near Granite Quarry. Each participant will have the opportunity to experience Colonial living through the following activities during the week long camp:
  • Create a journal and practice writing with a quill
  • Locate historical burials and learn local stories of notable Salisburians
  • Learn how to shape and mold punched tin
  • Experience candle dipping, weaving fabrics and rugs, gardening, and outdoor cooking,
  • Introduction to recognizing antiques and artifacts
