Technology for Students
At Rowan-Salisbury Schools, we use technology to learn, create, and connect — and with that comes the responsibility to use it safely and respectfully. When you’re on a school device or connected to our network, you’re expected to be kind, honest, and careful with how you use technology. That means using approved websites and tools, keeping your passwords private, and never sharing personal information about yourself or others.
You’re also responsible for following school rules online just like you would in the classroom. That includes not using VPNs to get around filters, not recording others without permission, and not using AI or other tools to cheat or mislead. Everything you do on a school device can be monitored — so make good choices. When in doubt, ask your teacher or tech team for help. We’re here to support your learning while keeping you and your information safe.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a powerful tool that can help you brainstorm ideas, improve your writing, and explore new ways to learn. In Rowan-Salisbury Schools, we believe that learning to use AI responsibly is an important part of preparing for the future — both in school and in the real world. That’s why AI tools aren’t blocked, but instead are introduced gradually with guidance from your teachers. As you get older, you’ll have more opportunities to use AI — but you’ll also be expected to use it honestly and cite it when used in your work.
Just like with any other school tool, there are clear rules. You can’t use AI to cheat, plagiarize, or spread misinformation. You’re also expected to think critically about what AI produces and always give credit where it’s due. We’re here to help you grow your skills — not replace them — and that includes learning how to use AI with creativity, integrity, and purpose.

-
- Only use AI tools when your teacher says it’s okay.
- Always cite your sources — even AI.
- Don’t use AI to cheat — it’s meant to help you think, not think for you.

- Never share personal info like your address or phone number online.
-
- Don’t open random links or emails from people you don’t know.

- Tools like AI, video editing, and digital whiteboards can make learning more creative — just use them the right way.
